How Wave Code and the web companion work

Understand the desktop agent, web account, sponsored requests, and the steps to take when a task is waiting for authorization.

One account, two parts of the workflow

The Wave Code desktop editor is where you open a project and work with the coding agent. The Wave web companion is where you sign in, see request notifications, complete assigned sponsored ads, and review account activity. Sign in with the same Google account in both places so the companion can show the request belonging to your editor session.

You can read these guides, browse product information, and contact support without watching ads or signing in. The web companion uses JavaScript for account and request operations.

Start a request

  1. Download the editor for your operating system and open a project you are authorized to modify.
  2. Describe a specific task and include relevant files or reproduction steps. Check the selected model and tool permissions.
  3. When the editor asks for ad authorization, open the web companion or the supported mobile companion.
  4. Find the notification matching your request. Review its displayed ad requirement before starting the sponsored group.
  5. Complete the assigned group, then return to the editor to review the agent's work.

What sponsored access means

Sponsored ads fund the model requests needed to perform your task. The ad requirement can vary with the request, selected model, and authorized budget. A long-running task may pause for another sponsorship step. This is not a promise of unlimited capacity, uninterrupted model availability, or a particular completion time.

Read the requirement shown for each group. Closing an unfinished group can leave the AI request waiting; it does not prevent you from reading the public website or contacting support. Do not click an advertiser's link to prove completion. Visit an advertiser only if you are interested in its offer.

If your request is still waiting

  • No matching notification: check the account email in both the editor and the companion, then refresh the request list.
  • The group did not complete: review the displayed progress and remaining requirement. Do not repeatedly submit the same request or assume a partially viewed group finished.
  • Another ad step appears: the request may have used its authorized budget. Check the latest message and notification rather than an older completed group.
  • No ads or a service error: keep the request details and try again later, or contact support. Ad availability is not guaranteed.
  • A file was generated before an error: check the relevant product's saved outputs or library before requesting the same generation again.

Review the result before using it

The agent can make mistakes. Read changed files, run your project's checks, and verify external actions. A completed ad authorizes a request; it does not certify that generated code is correct. Start with a small coding task and follow the review guide.
